Evidence refers to all the material that is used to allege a matter of fact whose truth is then investigated, either by a judicial trial or in criminal cases, by a police officer. In the study of forensics, evidence refers to the traces both physical and biological, that are found at a scene of a crime that are then used to determine the innocence or guilt of a suspect.
