What does "GG" mean on the federal pay schedule?

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has developed a number of pay scales for Federal employees. The GG plan is similar to the General Schedule plan that is used for most Civil Service employees. However, the GG pay schedule is only used for employees of the the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) and the U .S. Mission to the United Nations (USUN).
