The moon is basally a big spherical dry rock and that is what it looks like. It is grey, and covered with a fine rock dust. With the naked eye we can only see the side that is facing the sun and that is why we see the moon phases. Since there is no atmosphere or water there is no erosion and this means the moon is covered with crater marks from meteor collisions going back million of years.
