What Does under Duress Mean?


Under Duress means an individual is being pressured or threatened into acting on something whether it be to sign away property or rights, enter into a contract of some kind or not to press charges against someone. This term is used frequently in legal matters where one party is being put in charge of another individuals assets or well being. It is also used sometimes when someone confesses to something that they would not have committed themselves to if not under pressure or 'duress' to do so.
