What Food do Pirates Eat?

In the ancient times, pirates fed on meat, cheese, fresh veggies and eggs for the first few weeks of travel. However, with time the supplies dwindled or got spoiled and the fed on dry beans, pickled food or salted food. Chickens were also kept on board for eggs and meat.
