What happened to Carolyn Bryant after the Emmett Till murder trial?

Answer

Carolyn Bryant remarried, becoming Carolyn Donham, after she and husband Roy divorced in 1979 according to PBS. In all the years since Emmett Till was murdered in 1955, Carolyn has not talked publicly about the case.

In fact, Carolyn was not the first person to tell Roy about the incident between she and Emmett. Roy originally heard about what happened from a teenager who was in the store when it happened.

In August of 1955, Emmett whistled at Carolyn in a Money, Mississippi, grocery store, unaware he was breaking unwritten laws in the Jim Crow South. Three days later, Emmett was murdered. Although the defendants, Carolyn's husband Roy and his half-brother J.W. Milam, were tried and found not guilty, they later admitted to the crime in detail during an interview. During the trial, Carolyn testified that Emmett had walked into a store in Money, bought bubble gum, made "ugly remarks" to her and whistled.
