What happened to Ichabod Crane?

Answer

In 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,' Ichabod Crane is the unfortunate schoolmaster in that town. He is tortured by stories of the Headless Horseman, who is said to haunt the area. In the end, Crane disappears, and the reader is left to wonder if he was a victim of the Horseman, or simply left the town out of fear.
