A calculator is basically made up of four major parts namely: input device, the processor, and output device and the power source. The input is provided by the keyboard which is connected to a touch sensitive circuit; the processor is a microchip that does the manipulations; the output is provided by a small liquid crystal display (LCD) which shows the numbers, while the power to the device is given by a battery or a solar cell. The first electronic calculator came into being in the 1960s.
