What is a celestial body?

Answer

A celestial body is any natural body found outside the Earth's atmosphere. Celestial bodies and objects range from the mundane, such as the moon or the sun, to more exotic objects, such as pulsars, quasars and black holes.

Celestial bodies are sometimes referred to as astronomical objects. Even though the vast majority of the cosmos consists of nothing but empty space, there are a number of known and unknown objects that can be found. Celestial bodies can be anything from the most distant galaxies that exist at the edge of the visible universe to the planets and moons that can be found within the solar system.
