In mathematics, a complement set is a set (A) referring to things not in meaning things outside of A. The comparative complement of A with respect to a set B is the set of elements in B but not in A. When all sets under consideration are considered to be subsets of an assumed set U, the absolute counterpart of A is the set of all components in U but not in A.
