The normal levels for prothrombin time (PT) is 11 -16 seconds whilst the international normalized ratio (INR) is 0.8 – 1.2. PT is usually measured using blood plasma mixed with citrate and centrifuged. The INR is the ratio of the patient's Pt to a control sample raised to the power of ISI (International Sensitivity Index).
