Peckerwood?

Answer

A peckerwood is basically a racial term used by 19th century southern Black Americans to describe poor whites, especially poor Southerners. The term has also been said to be an inversion of a woodpecker which is a bird adapted for climbing and with a hard chisel-like bill for boring into wood for insects.
