A witch-hunt is the search and later persecution of a suspected witch or a campaign directed towards a person holding backward views. The process often involves moral panic, crowd hysteria that may later result to lynching of the suspected party in past it was legal and even involved official witchcraft trials. In England during the midevil times witches found guilty would usually be burnt to death in public.
