Ajinomoto MSG is a salt obtained from sodium and amino acid and glutamic acid. The salt is not similar to sodium but it instead contains only 1/3 the amount of sodium as salt (Nacl). The salt is sold in crystalline form and it is common in Chinese cuisine.
