PLA stands for Polylactide or Polylactic acid. This is a polymer produced by Natureworks and is made from lactic acid. Polylactic acid is regarded as the world's only performance plastic material made from 100% renewable resources. It is clear and strong just like petrol based plastic but has the advantage of being compostable.

PLA Polyactide is a corn plastic made from corn. they are biodegradable and compostable. It is a renewable resource and hence it makes corn plastic sustainable then the regular plastics.
