Prince re-signed to Warner Brothers in April of 2014, according to NME magazine. A day after the announcement, Prince released a new single, "The Breakdown," on April 18th. The singer plans to embark on his first United Kingdom arena tour in 7 years in May of 2014, reports Contact Music.
Prince broke with his record label, Warner Brothers, in 1996 after a 4-year dispute regarding his contract, according to Variety. The music that he released between 1996 and 2013 was done independently on his own record imprint, NPG Records. Prince's subsequent new contract with Warner Brothers allowed the singer ownership of the master recordings of his previously published work through the label.
