Recidivism generally to refer to repetitions of behaviour or going back to what was previously done. It is usually used in a negative context, to discuss socially unacceptable or morally suspect behaviour which is repeated despite punishment to discourage the behaviour. It is more specially used in the criminal justice system, especially in the US.
