Reflection is the returning, or bouncing' of a wave off of a surface which resists that kind of wave, while refraction is the change in direction of a wave when it passes into a new substance. Both involve a change in the direction of waves as they pass from one medium to another. The amount of diffraction increases with increasing wavelength.
