Kidney disease occurs when one or more conditions damage the kidneys, keeping them from operating properly. This can also lead to high blood pressure, weak bones, nerve damage, and poor nutritional health. It can be caused by illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and other chronic conditions. If kidney disease gets worse, it can cause the kidneys to fail, which ultimately will require dialysis to clean the blood. Left untreated, kidney failure can result in death.
