The term amanitine refers to the poisonous principle of some fungi that is found in several species of the Amanita genus of mushrooms. This substance contains the inhibitor of RNA polymerase II and this mechanism makes it a deadly toxin. This poison can kill a person within 10 days and it normally progresses through a comatose stage to renal failure, liver failure, hepatic coma, respiratory failure and finally death.
