The difference between 50-hertz and 100-hertz LCD and LED televisions is their picture quality. Televisions with 100 hertz create better images than televisions with 50 hertz.

Best Buy states that a 240-hertz television refreshes, or rebuilds, its image 240 times in a second. Since a 50-hertz television only rebuilds its picture 50 times in a second, it has far worse picture quality than the televisions with a higher refresh rate, including the 100-hertz TVs.
For instance, with many 60-hertz televisions, viewers notice slight motion blurs during fast-action scenes or when the image cuts from one scene to another. Viewers with 50-hertz televisions are more likely to experience similar problems but with more distorted motion blurs or slower image refresh times.
Although the 100-hertz television has a better picture quality than the 50-hertz, the quality is still worse than televisions with more hertz, which have higher frequencies. Generally, TVs with 240 hertz or above have a crisp clear picture. Plasma TVs, for instance, typically have a 600-hertz refresh rate, which indicates they have fewer issues with motion blurs. However, most manufacturers include additional technology to manage motion blurs and picture quality issues, which means that the picture quality is not determined solely by frequency; it is also determined by the brand.
HDTVs fundamentally can display 720 lines or better resolution. An SD/ED set can display only 480 lines. HDTVs also have HDMI and PC VGA inputs, SD sets typically do not. Just about
