The name Jatin means "he who has matted locks" in Sanskrit. Jatin is pronounced "juh - tihn" and is tropically used to name boys in Hindu-speaking countries.

Jatin is associate with asceticism and is also a name of Lord Shiva. Legend has it that Shiva's matted hair served as a container for the Ganges' fall from heaven, which would have otherwise destroyed the world.
