According to the United States Social Security Administration, the most common name given to baby girls in 2013 was Sophia. This name was followed by Emma, Olivia, Isabella, Ava, Mia, Emily, Abigail, Madison and Elizabeth.

The name Sophia has been the most popular name since 2011. It was number two in 2010, number four in 2009, number seven in 2008, number six in 2007, number nine in 2006 and number 12 in 2005. The previous most popular name, in 2010, was Isabella.

The data from the Social Security Administration does not combine different spellings of similar names, breaks ties in names by alphabetical order and separates names by sex.
