Religion has it that all living things were created by God in six days before He rested on the 7th day. However, different scientists have come up with theories as to the origin of life, with most of them going by the theory of evolution.

Depending on what you believe in, the origin of life is totally random or the hand of God. I tend to believe that, though God created the universe and even intended the existence of mankind, He leaves it up to us to evolve.
