What Kind of Food Did People Eat in the 1940s?

Answer

In January 1940, the food rationing program was started in UK and people were allowed to have specific amounts of different foodstuff like cheese, milk, meat, sugar, sweets and margarine among others. These rations were given every month to curb the impending food shortage. Bread, bananas and potatoes were also rationed until the end of the rationing system in 1954.
