What Responsibilities Does an Employer Have in Accommodating an Employee with Short Term Disability?
Having worked closely with the Human Resources department of my company, I've learned that by law, an employer must accommodate an employee who goes on short term disability. There is of course lots of paper work that must be fill out. The employee will also need to provide paper work from his medical provider that indicates that his physical condition does not allow him to carry out his duties as an employee. State laws differ as to how much an employee is paid as well as what specific amount of time is considered short term in comparison to long term disability.
