School life in the 1960s was very liberal. There was free milk at school every morning in 1/3 pint bottles. There were also compulsory showers every evening after playtime and corporal punishment was in order.

Schools in the 1960's were different in terms of facilities and technology. Very few had laboratories and the computer technology that is available today. Subject wise, the girls had to do domestic sciences which were basically cooking and needlework, while the boys had to do woodwork.
In the 1960s, the education system was very much based around Grammar and Secondary education. Discipline was easily maintained in schools and it was disgraceful to be sent to the principal's office. Parents were always informed of bad behaviour while Kids were expected to do many hours of homework and to come prepared, and finally, many kids had to walk to school.
