The now global American network, MTV (Music and television), made its debut on 1st of August 1981 as a channel that plays music twenty four hours a day. It was developed by John Lack and Robert W. Pittman, who created the original programming format and later became president and chief executive officer (CEO). MTV Networks has numerous native-language MTV-branded music channels in dozens of countries around the world with 16 channels in the UK.
