Cars have been around for a very long time. Cars did not start to become popular until the early 1900's when the average working man could afford the purchase of a car on his salary.

Cars became popular and contributed to the rail system's demise as the chosen form of transportation around the creation of Ford's Model Ts from 1913-1927. By 1956, a vast highway was built and public transit fell out of favor.
