Red Nose Day started ion 5th February 1988. It is the highlight of the Comic Relief Charity founded in1985 in response to famine in Ethiopia. It takes place every second or third Friday of the month of March. It is often regarded as a semi-holiday whereby people wear plastic red noses in exchange for a donation.

Red Nose Day started with a few live events that were performed by comedians in 1988.It is an event that has been created by a charity organization called Comic Relief in the UK and has the objective of raising money to support people and communities in dire need both in the UK and Africa. Comic Relief was interestingly launched from a refugee camp in Sudan in 1985 and the events organized have participation by fundraisers all over the globe.
