On Thursday 7 April 2011, it was announced that the national minimum wage rate will increase to £6.08 per hour for the 2011/2012 financial year, with effect from 1st October, 2011. This increment represents an increase of 2.5% from the 2010/2011 national minimum wage adult rate, which stands at £5.93 per hour (from 1 October 2010 to 30 September 2011).
