Pop Art is an artistic movement that has been created as a rejection of Abstract Expressionism, which was labeled pretentious and over-intense. Pop Art was invented by a British critic named Laurence Alloway in 1956. It first saw daylight in the 1950's but didn't really become popular until the 60's.
