When will the planets align?

Answer

The planets in this solar system never line up perfectly, but they will come into alignment in 2854. Each planet rotates around the sun at a different speed, and the planets form a rough alignment once every 500 years.

The closest alignment formed by the planets is only about 30 degrees. The year 561 B.C. was the last time when such a close alignment occurred. Due to the different orbital speeds of each of the planets, such alignments are very rare. An alignment of the planets does not have an impact on the solar system and is of no real astronomical significance.
