When Will Yellowstone Erupt?

Answer

Experts believe a Yellowstone eruption would bring a 2,000 million tonnes of sulphur, 40-50km, above the Earth's surface. It would then take 2-3 weeks for the resulting sulphuric acid aerosols to cover the globe with damaging effect. It is not known when Yellowstone will erupt but scientists believe it will erupt in the near future, the chances of this happening are far from known.

There is no way to know for sure when Yellowstone will erupt. While there have been periods of 600,000 to 900,000 years between previous eruptions, there haven't been enough of them to establish a pattern.
