Pythons are found in Southern Asia and in various tropical rain forests in the sub Saharan Africa. They are also found in Australia, Indonesia, New Guinea and Malaysia. Not all pythons are venomous. Python rigius is the smallest of the African pythons and is popular in the pet trade, largely due to its typically docile temperament.
