Christopher Columbus died in Valladolid, Spain on May 20th, 1506 at the age 54. After his 3rd voyage, eight years before his death, he begun showing symptoms of a terminal illness which killed him eventually. He was buried in a small cemetery in Valladolid but his body was moved later on to Seville.
According to a study, published in February 2007, by Antonio Rodriguez Cuartero, Department of Internal Medicine of the University of Granada, he died of a heart attack caused by Reiter's Syndrome (also called reactive arthritis).
