A donut or doughnut as also known as is a mainly fried dough food. Its history is disputed but one theory suggests that they were introduced by Dutch settlers into North America. An American by the name Hanson Gregory claimed that he was the one who invented the ring-shaped doughnut in the year 1847 aboard a lime-trading ship while he was only 16 years old.
