Where do cuttlefish live?

Answer

Cuttlefish are found in oceans all over the world. Their typical habitats are shallow reefs. However, some cuttlefish are found in depths of up to 650 feet.

Cuttlefish feed on mollusks and crustaceans, such as shrimp and crab. Adults are 20 to 30 inches long and weigh up to 11 pounds. These fish have an unusual characteristic: they change the tone and pattern of their skin to match their surroundings. This camouflage protects them from predators. It also helps smaller males hide from larger ones, giving the underdog a chance to mate. The fish also protect themselves by squirting brownish ink at predators.
