Where do you check the transmission fluid on a 1996 Subaru Legacy?

i just had my transmission fluuid checked and the dipstick was on the right side of the car but youll have to look down in the car because its kindo f under wires and cables .

what year? usually two dip sticks one for transmission the other for the final drive. transmission on the drivers side the final drive on the passenger side. but depends on the year
