Where do oak trees grow?

Answer

Oak trees can be found in almost every state in the United States. Oaks tend to grow very well in the hot, humid climates in the south, but some oaks, including the Northern red bur and the white oak, have a growing range that extends to the coldest climates in the north.

Regardless of what zone an oak is planted in, it should have plenty of room to grow both up and out. According to the Arbor Day Foundation, an oak tree should have an area to grow that is approximately 80 feet wide by 80 feet tall. Oaks thrive in nearly any type of soil condition, and they prefer to be planted in full sunlight.
