Geographically, Aachen is the westernmost town of Germany, located along its borders with Belgium and the Netherlands, 65 km west of Cologne. The city is most well known among archaeologists for the late 8th Century chapel built for the court of Charlemagne, one of the most widely known Carolingian cathedrals in Europe.
