The late Queen mother was born in Greenwich palace on 7th September and was an only child of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Queen Elizabeth I ascended into throne in 1558 and her reign saw Expansion of England's overseas trade. Despite pressure from her advisers she refused to Marry but had a close relationship with Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester.
