What device is used to determine a ship's latitude?

Answer

The device used to determine a ship's latitude was called an astrolabe. As well as this it could also locate the position of the sun, moon, stars and planets as well as being able to tell the time. It is though that Hipparchus invented the first astrolabe in 150 BC.
