When a Whirlpool washer will not spin but will agitate and pump water in and out the first thing to check is the lid switch. This switch can work loose and the tab on the lid will not be able to push it down so that the washer will spin. Other things that may cause the washer to stop spinning are the clutch, the motor coupler, the water level switch and the drive belt. Each of these things should be inspected to determine if they need repair.
