One of the Montgolfier brothers is Joseph-Michel Montgolfier, who lived from 26 August 1740 to 26 June 1810. The other is Jacques-Etienne Montgolfier, born on 6 January 1745 and died in 2 August 1799. They were the inventors of the hot air balloon, which was the first manned ascent into the sky.
