Anesthesia is the dulling of the senses in the body through chemical inducement. Anesthesia was first discovered and used by Humphrey Davy in 1799 when he was experimenting with nitrous oxide. However, many ancient civilizations also used similar plants or chemicals to dull their senses as well.
