Protons were discovered by Ernest Rutherford in 1918 while neutrons were discovered by James Chadwick in 1932. Electrons were discovered by Sir Joseph John Thomson, a British physicist. When protons and neutrons are put together they are known as nucleons and the study of nucleons is known as chromodynamics.
