Spandex was invented in 1959 by a scientist named Joseph C Shivers who was an employee of DuPonts laboratory in Virginia by then. Spandex is natural latex that is stronger but less durable made of synthetic fibre. It was used for making clothes like skirts, pants, socks among others as well as garments.
