Air conditioning for automobiles started in 1939 by the Packard Motor Car Company. These units was installed in the trunk of the car. This unit stopped production in 1941. It wasn't until 1954 Nash Ambassador started placed air conditioning and heating into cars again. No specific person has received credit for this great luxury.

The Packard Motor company of Detroit, Michigan (defunct since 1959) invented the first used automobile air conditioner in its 1939 Packard luxury model. The slogan for that summer, to sell the car with the air conditioning unit was: 'Forget the heat this summer in the only air-conditioned car in the world!'. That was a pretty cool deal!
