Henry Leland, after a few years of engineering an old Olds engine, and went into business with the Henry Ford company. Leland made an offer for ford to stay in business and a new company called Antoine De la Mothe Cadillac, after the founder of Detroit. It was October 17, 1902 when the first Cadillac took its maiden drive with Alanson Brush driving it. Brush was an engineer for Leland.
